I’d like to go overseas and work in an orphanage for a season
but I can’t.
At least not right now.
I’d like to go and teach thousands about how
to discover true peace, purpose and passion in life
how to discover the life we were meant to live
But the time is not now.
Maybe later
But not now.
I long to love this world to Jesus
to love where there is no love
to dig deep into the dirt of human suffering
and to be His Instrument.
And for me, my place is here.
In my little community
in my precious family
and in my church
to daily be faithful in the little things.
One life at a time
day after day
serving
in quiet, hidden ways.
Like you.
The other day I was drawn to the quote of Mother Theresa,
“Do not think that love in order to be genuine has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.”
And so while my days are oftentimes filled with small acts of kindness,
tending the side of one who doesn’t have long on this earth
listening to one grieve the loss of a loved one
explaining a concept in math to my seventh grader
helping another work their way through a family difficulty
these are the places where I must not get tired.
Instead of looking to be removed from this place
I need to see what I am doing with His Eyes and Heart
and faithfully fill each moment with real love.
Life passes oh so quickly and all we have is today.
Let’s be encouraged today simply in knowing that
nothing we do is ever wasted.
He knows and sees and cares.
And let’s love freely
Nothing held back.
Are you with me?
I’m cheering you on.
