“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year,”
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote.
Words that challenge. Words of hope.
But I wonder
do I live like I really believe this?
Every day……..
days that are filled with challenge and struggle.
days that demand that we dig down deep and draw upon resources beyond our own.
The BEST day…
Hm, my heart wanders to days at the beach
when I walk and leave footprints in the wet sand.
Days when the wind plays with my hair and the sun surrounds me with warmth.
Now that’s what I call the best of days, I muse.
But is there more to life than my own comfort and pleasure?
Is there more to be considered when I think about the best day of the year?
And then like moving pages on a book
I remember those cherished words
Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5,6)
words in my Bible that I have wet with tears.
Words that led me to peace and purpose and passion in life.
Lean not on your own understanding
I think back on times when I thought it was all over.
The end.
Nothingness.
But the Lord revealed to me that it was only a bend in the road.
Shining moments all over.
He led me further along
where I could look back and
catch the glimpse of a rainbow.
And what had seemed the worst of times
opened up to the best of days
as I trusted Him and kept on walking.
In all your ways acknowledge Him
The winds whispers it
All of nature proclaims it.
That He is Lord
and that His Love is forever.
Placing my little hand in His Mighty One
I realize again and again that the best of days is in walking with Him.
Sometimes understanding maybe a little
But more often than not simply trusting Him
to somehow show me His Purpose and Plan
and to lead me Home.
And He will direct your paths.
Words of promise that we can depend upon.
Yes, that’s how every day becomes that best day of the year.
As we walk with Him
surrendered to His Will
a Way opens up.
A path of peace that shines with the light of His Promise.
So when there are difficult seasons
days of struggle and pain
He draws us even closer to Himself and whispers words of peace and hope.
Looking back
those times when I’ve sensed the Father’s Presence
are the golden ones that sparkle with Hope
and pulsate with Life.
How about you?
Write it on your heart
that today
wherever you are
whatever you’re doing
today is the best day of the year.
I still can hear the words of the radio speaker of old as he signed off each day,
“Walk with the King, my friends.”
Oh yes,
let’s walk with the King
and receive from His gracious Hand
