And my heart yearns for You.
In a sometimes cold and unfeeling world
You continue to shine your Love
All over us.
Touching and making our ordinary moments
Extraordinary.
And how very exciting it is to know
You’ve only just begun to show your Glory.
Years ago there was an elderly man.
I can see him in my mind although I have long since forgotten his name.
But I would go to church every Sunday
And look for him.
Not because of what his job was
Or how many letter came after his name
Not because of what kind of car he drove
Or the fancy house he lived in.
No, you see he passed out
Chiclets.
You remember—
Those square-shaped white pieces of gum that came in a box.
He always carried a box with him
And when he saw a child
he stopped and reached in his pocket
brought out the box
and passed out a few into all the waiting hands.
Into my small hand.
Even mine.
I felt so loved
so special
so cared for.
That’s how I think God wants us all to live
Touching the lives of those near and far
And showing them they are special.
Because God loves
and cares
and shows it again and again.
that all glory goes to Him.
He shone brightly through this man as he wove his way among the children.
He continues to shine today.
Shine brightly through me today, O Lord.
In a thousand different ways.
I can sense it. It is true.
You’ve only just begun to reveal your Glory.
