The Gift of Peace

Aug 27, 2011

·           Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.
Abraham Lincoln
As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
                               Powerful thoughts.
Earthquakes. Hurricanes. Financial problems. Relationship struggles.
What does this have to do with peace?
             Everything.
Peace springs from our inmost thoughts. Actions follow thoughts.
So if I can control my thoughts, my feelings and actions will be peace producing?
              Absolutely.
Turn off the weather reports. Open my Bible.
Move away from the conflicts and press into His arms.
Single parents struggling with so many burdens.  Think about His Love.
             Married couples juggling responsibilities.
              Illness. Uncertainty. Parenting struggles.
“I can’t do it,” she shared through her tears.
“I can’t live in peace.” Her shoulders sagged beneath the weight of her care.
She is so right. None of us can. But He has promised us the gift of His Peace.
It is there for us to receive. He is there for us to know.
               As we surrender our ways
We discover that He has been there all the time.
                Waiting.
Calling to us in the midst of the busyness of life.
Take time to breathe in His Peace today.
